HumasUPNVJ - The Fourth Day of Philosophy of Science and Logic debriefing for UPN Veteran Jakarta lecturers presented Rocky Gerung as a speaker. This debriefing was carried out in the UPNVJ Mash Class Room while adhering to health protocols. (25/6)
In his presentation, Rocky said that logic is very important in the world of education. “Universities should produce graduates who are able to think logically and critically. Not only in concepts but also in learning actions, even in everyday life. Said Rocky
According to Rocky, "In terms of logic, the most important factor is Detecting Faulty Arguments or detecting errors in other people's arguments. There are about thirty thinking errors that must be examined. For example, Argumentum Ad Verecundiam or arguments by taking refuge in other people/parties who are considered to have authority. Here, the mistake that often occurs is because we make our arguments aware not of facts but of people who are considered to have authority. Whereas truth does not depend on people but on reality itself. Obviously
Besides the Argumentum Ad Verecundiam error, there are many other argument errors, including Argumentum Ad Hominem (arguments discrediting other people), Argument Tu Quoque (stamping things with other people), Argument False Dichotomy (thinking in black and white), Argumentum Ad Baculum (arguments with threats), Argumentum Ad Burden Of Proof (prove me wrong)
At the end of the session, Anter Venus as the Vice Chancellor for academic affairs at UPNVJ who was present said that the provision of logic material was very important for lecturers who would teach logic courses to students, according to Venus, "Logic is indeed very crucial in 21st century learning which requires critical thinking skills, open, creative and also encourage the emergence of curiosity (student curiosity ). Obviously
Venus confirmed Rocky's statement stating that logic was the first prime mover for the emergence of critical thinking, or rather "suspicion" or skepticism as the first prime mover .
