HumasUPNVJ - In the event that coincided with the inauguration of the establishment of the AB Susanto Center, a review of the book Management of Defending the State: A Modern Approach to Becoming a Great Nation by Professor FEB UPN Veteran Jakarta was also held, on Wednesday 9 September 2020.

This book review talkshow was moderated by Tri Agung Kristanto, Deputy Chief Editor of Kompas Daily. The discussants were the Chancellor of UPN Veterans Jakarta, Governor of Lemhannas RI, Governor of Lemhanas RI, Lt. Gen. (Purn.) Agus Widjojo, Professor of ITB Prof. Purnomo, Rikard Bagun from BPIP and received wide acclaim from various groups.

Tri Agung Kristanto in this book emphasizes that whatever we do that we dedicate to the country can contribute to Defending the Country. On page five of the State Defense Management book it is written " one of the forms of refreshing the spirit of State Defense is to broaden the meaning of State Defense ".

On the occasion, the Governor of Lemhannas RI Agus Widjojo gave a response that State Defense is not only for defense purposes, State Defense is a national interest. But maybe it's because of our country's culture that makes this view remain so. Even though the management of State Defense can be carried out by the wider community, such as maintaining discipline, commitment and so on.

Agus Widjojo said that there is a learning or institution where we are given training for State Defense matters, one of which is Scouts. Where in it is taught to train leadership, responsibility, and discipline where it is outside the military. So that the learning of State Defense has actually been taught starting from elementary school.

ITB Professor, Prof. Purnomo Yusgiantoro discusses Chapter V regarding the Economic Crisis of 1965, 1986, 1997, 2008 & 2020, Economic Growth Since 1961 – 2019

Besides that Prof. Purnomo, conducted a discussion in Chapter VI regarding National Goals and National Interests.

"The intended national goal is to protect the entire nation and all of its bloodshed, promote public welfare, educate the nation's life, participate in carrying out world order. In addition, the intended national interest is the upholding of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution and guaranteeing the smooth and secure development of sustainable national development in order to realize national goals," explained Prof. Purnomo.

The Chancellor of UPNVJ responded to a quote from the State Defense Management book which reads " Whatever background we have, the effort to defend the country will not be meaningful without a strong work ethic. "

In his response the UPNVJ Chancellor conveyed the role of a leader in Defending the Country with strategic thinking as a guide. Defending the State has an important role in various fields in the business world Defending the State can increase added value to increase the country's foreign exchange. The importance of a work ethic in Defending the Country can produce high quality and consistent output.
