HumasUPNVJ - Volunteer Corps (KSR) Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) UPN Veterans Jakarta Unit (UPNVJ) directly involved in helping officers who were undergoing SAR operations for the Sriwijaya Air SJ 182 plane crash on the Jakarta - Pontianak route which crashed in the sea waters of the Thousand Islands a week ago.
"The assistance we provide is in the form of personnel, standby personnel with PMI City of South Jakarta (Jaksel) and KSR PMI other higher education units," said Neza Gustania Sari, a member of KSR PMI UPNVJ in his report to the public relations team via online chat, on Monday (18/ 01).
In his report, Neza also said that from the KSR PMI UPNVJ itself there were 4 (four) personnel who had attended ambulance training. The assistance was provided by providing personnel who departed from the PMI South Jakarta headquarters and an ambulance standby at the scene of the incident and joined other PMIs throughout DKI Jakarta.
" The Standby personnel is intended to assist Basarnas in bringing the remains to the National Police Hospital for identification. Then personnel from PMI also helped to sterilize the victim search boat as well as evidence and the victim's body parts by spraying disinfectant," added Neza.
4 KSR PMI UPNVJ unit personnel who went directly, namely Neza Gustania Sari, a Public Health student, Chyntia Sucyati, a Communication Science student, Mutiara Sonia Syafitri, a Public Health student, and Akbar Maulana Hadi, a Management student.
Technically they assisted the SAR team in evacuating victims of SJ-182 which was carried out from Monday, January 11 to Friday, January 15, 2021 down to the location with a 24-hour duty time and only 1 personnel each day in their distribution of tasks.
It should be noted, in carrying out this operation PMI personnel who were on standby were on duty in accordance with the directions from the field commander, starting from assisting with the evacuation to carrying out the disinfection.
On this occasion, Neza also explained that although PMI's KSR UKM had only been established in 2018, in a short time, KSR UKM members were able to bring the name of UPN Veteran Jakarta well to the external environment through their participation in the humanitarian field. Not only that, Neza also invited other fellow students if they wanted to join in the humanitarian action by becoming members of KSR PMI UPNVJ.
"To be able to go into the field is quite easy, that is, just join the UKM KSR PMI UPNVJ unit. Because these SMEs are directly connected to PMI South Jakarta City, which is also directly connected to PMI DKI and PMI throughout Indonesia. So that for every disaster incident, UKM KSR PMI will always be able to participate in moving in the humanitarian field easily when personnel are needed, "explained Neza.
