UPNVJ Public Relations Attends 2023 Public Information Openness Monev

HumasUPNVJ - The Jakarta "Veteran" National Development University Public Relations Team, Witanti Prihatiningsih and Disa Prihantini attended the Monitoring and Evaluation (Monev) event on Public Information Disclosure held by the Central Information Commission in Kampar Regency, Riau on Wednesday (17/5). This Monev is one of the instruments for the Central Information Commission and the Regional Information Commission in measuring the performance of public information disclosure from public bodies.

"Why is it called one of the instruments? because there are many instruments of openness," said Arya Sandhiyudha, deputy chairman of the Central Information Commission.

When you want to see the performance of public bodies combined with the response from the public, continued Arya, the instrument used is the Public Information Disclosure Index.

Meanwhile, when wanting to empower non-public agency actors to participate in mainstreaming public information disclosure, the instruments used are advocacy, outreach and education.

Arya said there is a combination of a non-institutional approach with the goals of public bodies, which means with regulatory measures and regulations of the Central Information Commission. "So there are non-public agency actors who are involved in agendas that are actually not their direct obligation by law," said Arya.

He said that the Central Information Commission has fixed standards regarding public information disclosure that must be implemented by public bodies. Due to its fixed nature, the Public Information Commission is again holding an M&E event this year, especially when Indonesia is entering the political year.

"We remind public bodies, whether ministries or any institutions, entirely not to let the political atmosphere or election atmosphere interfere with the quality of information services and information services for the people," said Arya.

"So both ministries, state and government institutions, non-structural institutions, Provincial Governments, BUMN, state universities, and political parties, should not be disturbed by the election atmosphere, and continue to maintain the quality of information services for the people," he continued.

As a report, there are 372 public bodies that have participated in the information disclosure scheme in 2022. Arya said the Central Information Commission appreciated this, saying that, "We both believe that public information disclosure is not just a competition to get a paper that is categorized or qualified, but more than that. We believe, public information disclosure is the heart of good governance, the heart of democratic governance," said Arya.

He added that, "if elections are procedural consolidation of democracy, then public information disclosure is a substantive consolidation of democracy."

Finally, Arya said that the dissemination of public information disclosure would be launched simultaneously this year, both at the national, provincial and district/city levels.
