UPNVJ Master of Law Students Attend Land Law Sit-In at UiTM Malaysia

Public Relations UPNVJ - Students of the Master of Law Program at the Faculty of Law, National Development University "Veteran" Jakarta (UPNVJ) took part in a sit-in program activity held at the Faculty of Law, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia on April 28 2025.

In this activity, students get a valuable opportunity to attend a live lecture with Prof. Madya Dr. Noraziah Abu Bakar, a senior academic in land law from UiTM.

The topic raised in this session is “Comparative Land Law between Malaysia and Indonesia,” which discusses the comparison of the land law systems of the two countries from various normative, institutional, and implementation perspectives in the field.

Prof. Dr. Noraziah explained that although Indonesia and Malaysia have similar legal historical roots – namely the influence of customary law, Islamic law, and the legacy of colonial law – in practice there are a number of fundamental differences, especially in terms of recognizing land rights, registration systems, and resolving agrarian disputes.

Through this session, students not only gain insight across legal systems, but are also encouraged to think critically in viewing land dynamics as a fundamental issue in sustainable development and social justice.

This sit-in activity is the result of academic collaboration between the UPNVJ Faculty of Law and the UiTM Malaysia Faculty of Law which continues to be developed through teaching exchanges, research collaborations and joint conferences.

Through this activity, it is hoped that UPNVJ Master of Law students will gain inspiration and an analytical basis in developing land law studies that are relevant to contemporary legal challenges.
