UPNVJ Chancellor Says Sacrifice is a Form of Solidarity and Implementation of National Defense

Jakarta — The Chancellor of the National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ), Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm, emphasized that the sacrificial worship is not only a form of spiritual obedience to Allah SWT, but also a real manifestation of social concern and the implementation of the values of National Defense in everyday life.

The statement was delivered during the slaughtering and cutting of sacrificial animals held by UPNVJ in commemoration of Eid al-Adha 1446 Hijriah, which took place at the Pondok Labu Campus, South Jakarta, on Friday, June 6, 2025.

"Qurban is a symbol of sincerity, solidarity, and sacrifice. Through this worship, we not only draw closer to Allah SWT, but also strengthen empathy and concern for others, especially those in need," said Prof. Venus.

"This is the spirit of national defense that we continue to instill in the UPNVJ environment," he continued.

In this activity, the Chancellor also sacrificed with the ranks of the campus academic community. This year, UPNVJ collected three cows and six goats which were donations from lecturers, education staff, and campus partners.

All the sacrificial meat was distributed to the surrounding community and campus support staff, such as cleaners and security officers. The slaughtering process was carried out according to Islamic law, with attention to the cleanliness and health of the animals.

The Chancellor added that this activity is an important momentum to continue to foster a culture of mutual cooperation and a spirit of sharing in the UPNVJ environment.

"We hope that this activity can strengthen the bond of togetherness between the campus and the community, and be an inspiration for the younger generation to make spiritual values the foundation of devotion to the nation and state," concluded Prof. Venus.
