Upnvj Sends Humanitarian Aid to Pandeglang, Banten

Pandeglang, Banten (29/07/2018) – As a manifestation of the values of State Defense and humanitarian assistance, the Chancellor of the Jakarta Veterans National Development University (UPNVJ), Dr. Erna Hernawati, Ak, CPMA, CA, assigned the Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) to move quickly in sending aid to areas affected by the Sunda Strait Tsunami natural disaster, especially in the Pandeglang area, Banten Province, which has been a partner area for cooperation in the program. Following up on this matter, the Head of LPPM UPNVJ, Dr. Retno Dyah Kusumastuti, M.Sc, has held several intensive meetings to discuss targets, mapping, logistics, and determining the personnel to be dispatched to the disaster site. "Based on the results of local government communications, we will focus on medical assistance according to directions from the Pandeglang District Health Office," said Dr. Retno. This is of course in line with the advantages possessed by UPNVJ in the health sector through Medical, Nursing and Public Health Education.

According to the assigned letter of assignment, at the departure of the first wave, the UPNVJ Disaster Care Team consisted of M. Ikhsan Amar, S.Gz, M.Kes, H. Heru Suyanto, SH., MH., Ns. Arief Wahyudi Jadmiko, S.Kep, M.Kep, dr. Novianto Adi Prasetyo, dr. Debi Ubaidi Abdillah, Reza Virgantara, SH., MH., Saiful, Umi Nurjanah, Balia Ibnu Bustomi, Vianda Pramusti Sari, Anggi Bernita, Qara Syifa Fachrani, Annisa Dinda R, Annisa Weningtyas and Anisya Zakiyyahaya Arvant.

Thank God, the UPNVJ Disaster Care Team has arrived in Pandeglang and immediately held a meeting with the Health Cluster Team from the Pandeglang District Health Office to get further instructions. Currently, the UPNVJ Disaster Care Team is directed to provide medical assistance at the Cimanggu Health Center, Pandeglang Regency. Apart from the Medical and Paramedic Team, UPNVJ also brought several aids collected from donors and partners who were concerned about the condition of the victims of the Sunda Strait Tsunami.

According to Dr. Retno, this humanitarian assistance is basically not the first time that UPNVJ has done this. “This year, UPNVJ has sent humanitarian aid to the disaster areas of Palu, Lombok and now Banten. We really don't expect that Indonesia will continue to be hit by disasters, however, UPNVJ is ready to stand by to help the community," stressed Dr. Retno.
