"We have to change the mindset of students, not only about science but also preparing student behavior so that they are creative and able to answer various problems," said Dr. Erna Hernawati, Ak, CPMA, CA. in front of 40 participants consisting of lecturer representatives from each faculty.
Lecturers must be able to instill values in students and also instill emotional maturity. Mastery of these skills is more for strengthening the mindset of students. Learning must be service-oriented and build values in the learning process.
On this occasion the Chancellor of UPN Veterans Jakarta advised lecturers to creatively explore learning models before appearing in front of the class. Lecturers must have skills, creativity, and innovation to be able to perform well in front of students.
Meanwhile the Director of Program Development and Educational Technology, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) Ir. Lien Herlina, M.Sc. who was the speaker at the training said that basically PEKERTI is updating the learning model in order to respond to the development of the industrial revolution 4.0, because times are indeed changing.
"We must be prepared for the future, therefore lecturers must be able to teach for the Children of the Future, even though lecturers already have experience in teaching, their teaching techniques and skills must always be improved because the demands are changing," said Ir. Lien Herlina, M.Sc.
On that occasion, Lien Herlina also said that teaching techniques take advantage of technological advances, but do not completely replace them like machines. Values cannot be automated, because values can only be done through the creativity of the lecturer.
"These children of the future have characteristics that understand technology, they associate with platforms, so learning is as fast as reading WhatsApp , as interesting as watching YouTube, and beautiful Instagram. So if the lecturer teaches in a boring way, the messages will not be of interest to students," explained the IPB lecturer
In dealing with technological advances, lecturers must have an open mind and understand how to translate technological developments into learning. (Writer Azwar, Photo of Ramzi Humas UPNVJ).
