Public Relations UPNVJ - In the context of preserving the environment, Chaerudin, who is familiarly known as Babe Idin, aged 65, handed over Indonesian coffee spices to UPN Veteran Jakarta (UPNVJ).

The coffee spices in plant form were handed over and received directly by Dr. Ria Maria Theresa, Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs and Employment in the hallway of the Rectorate Building, on Tuesday (09/01/24).

Babe Idin is a native Betawi man who is the founder of the Sangga Buana Environmental Farmers Group (KTLH) in Lebak Bulus, South Jakarta. Reporting from Kumparan, this group focuses on processing waste and greening the edge of the Pesanggrahan River.

"This is Indonesian coffee, Arabica coffee. I will hand it over to the UPN campus, God willing, in the next 6 months it will bear fruit and indeed UPN is one of the plans in various places where we will distribute it, hopefully it will be useful," said Babe Idin.

"Thank you for the gift, this is a mandate from Babe for the campus to protect and care for Indonesian coffee, hopefully with this UPN can protect and preserve one of the riches of the archipelago," said Dr. Ria.

On this occasion Dr. Ria also felt amazed by the Indonesian work given by Babe Idin, because based on the information given, the coffee could grow in the highlands, but with Babe Idin's tenacity, the coffee could grow in the area on the outskirts of the Pesanggrahan River.

"This coffee plant is quite special because from what we know this coffee can only grow in the highlands, but with Babe Idin's hands this plant can grow in the area on the edge of the Pesanggrahan River," he added.

In the handover, UPN received 10 coffee plants which will later be distributed at several points on campus and preserved for student education.
