Public RelationsUPNVJ - Chancellor of the National Development University "Veteran" Jakarta Dr. Anter Venus, MA, Comm received a visit from the Head of the Depok District Prosecutor's Office, Silvia Desty Rosalina, and her staff at the UPNVJ Pondok Labu Campus on Monday, May 13 2024. The Deputy Chancellor for General Affairs and Finance was also present to accompany the Chancellor at this meeting.

The Depok Prosecutor's Office delegation's visit to UPNVJ aims to provide outreach regarding risks or irregularities regarding the procurement of government goods and services.

"We hope that Mrs. Silvia can provide a clear picture of the risks of things that are not good, and provide direction to field implementers so that undesirable things such as corruption, bribery and so on do not happen in the UPNVJ environment," said Venus.

When providing outreach, Silvia focuses on the risks and legal consequences if corruption occurs in the procurement of goods and services in government institutions.

"The main cause of corruption is intention and opportunity. Opportunities can be seen or obtained from a weak system," said Silvia.

In an effort to prevent corruption, he continued, it is necessary to implement special strategies in steps such as outreach, supervision or monitoring, and policy improvements.

Apart from that, firm action in the form of criminal penalties needs to be imposed if corruption actually occurs. This is important to do in order to provide a deterrent effect on the perpetrators.

"We are here to play a role in providing outreach, consideration and legal assistance, so that activities that use state money are carried out correctly so that there are no legal risks, both in the civil, criminal and state administration areas," concluded Silvia.
