For the First Time, IKA UPNVJ Implements a Rotating Collective Management System

HumasUPNVJ – The UPPN “Veteran” Jakarta Alumni Family Association (IKA UPNVJ) officially has a new General Chairperson for the next 4-year period. This time the General Chairperson election is different from the previous ones. The election used deliberation to reach consensus through the IKA Congress which was held on December 14-15, 2024.

This congress was a historic moment with the implementation of a rotating collective management system, which was a new approach to resolving the long debate during the general chairman election process.

Today, taking place in the Chancellor's Guest Room, the incumbent General Chairperson of IKA UPNVJ along with several members of IKA UPNVJ were present to report the results of the Congress to the Chancellor.

In this system, there are two names who become the General Chairperson with a term of office of two years each. The two names are Himawan Syahputra and Bijak Fadhil Ahmad. The first two years will be led by Himawan who is an alumnus of the Textile Engineering Study Program class of 1992. Historically, UPNVJ once had a Textile Engineering department, although currently the study program no longer exists.

The next two years IKA UPNVJ will be led by Bijak, an alumnus of Ship Engineering. In the meantime, they will support each other with the position of vice chairman when not in office.

"This decision was taken through deliberation as the best solution so that no party feels defeated. This collective alternating system also emphasizes the importance of cooperation and strengthening between administrators for mutual progress," said Himawan.

Management Focus: Legality, Articles of Association, and Membership Management

The management of IKA UPNVJ for this period will focus on three main aspects. First, the legality of the organization, which is now further strengthened by the results of the legally valid congress decisions. Second, the preparation and revision of the Articles of Association and Bylaws (AD/ART), including including the alternating collective system as a formal basis. Third, the arrangement of membership of congress participants, to ensure clearer rules and avoid sudden dynamics that often occurred in the implementation of previous congresses.

"We hope that in the future all alumni who want to become congress participants will have clear rules, so that there will be no more debates regarding membership that arise on the day of the congress," added Himawan.

Building Alumni Network for Mutual Progress

IKA UPNVJ also has a vision to strengthen the alumni network as a forum for collaboration between alumni and campus. Himawan emphasized the importance of this synergy to create job opportunities, bridge new graduates to the world of work, and optimize the potential of alumni who have been successful in various fields.

“Alumni are a great force. If we unite, we can make a big contribution, not only to fellow alumni, but also to the campus and the industrial world. Our motto is clear, 'We are strong because we are united,'” Himawan emphasized.

Through this new management, Himawan hopes that all alumni, both those who contribute big and small, can be actively involved in building a more solid alumni association. With the spirit of togetherness, it is hoped that IKA UPNVJ can become a forum that brings great benefits to all its members and also to our beloved campus.
