Yogi Satrio Bagus, Single Mom's Son Wins Over 35 Stock Competition Achievements

HumasUPNVJ - Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) held its 74th Graduation at the Jakarta Convention Center on Saturday, April 12, 2025. Of the 1,328 graduates, three received the Karya Mahardika award for academic and non-academic achievements. One of them is Yogi Satrio Bagus, a graduate of the S1 Management Study Program, class of 2021.

Yogi is a child from a simple family and was raised by a single mother after his father passed away. Initially, he aspired to become a heart specialist—a dream born from his father's passing.

However, fate brought him to the social sciences department, and his dream of becoming a doctor was dashed. The turning point came when he met an economics teacher who sparked his interest in the stock market, and from there his life changed.

Even though he was almost unable to continue his education due to economic constraints, Yogi was successfully accepted at UPNVJ and received a full scholarship for the Bachelor of Management study program.

During his studies, he was active in the Capital Market Study Group and participated in more than 35 national and international competitions in the field of equity research—competitions that test participants' ability to analyze stocks comprehensively.

Learn and Improve Yourself

One of the most memorable moments for Yogi was when he led the team in a competition that initially failed to qualify for the final round, but eventually entered due to the withdrawal of another team.

His team managed to win 3rd place, but the victory was later annulled by the committee due to a technical error. Instead of being discouraged, Yogi instead used the experience as a trigger for new enthusiasm.

"This is a turning point, where this becomes the fuel that ignites my passion to continue competing," said Yorgi.

In the next competition, Yogi won 2nd place after studying the coal industry intensively, including traveling to Semarang to meet a mentor.

For him, participating in a competition is not just about winning, but more than that. "Competition for me is a place to learn and improve myself," concluded Yogi, who hopes his story can inspire other young people who are struggling.
