Girigahana UPNVJ Holds Education About the Dangers of Plastic Waste

Girigahana UPN "Veteran" Jakarta carried out a socialization movement to reduce plastic waste at the Unity in Diversity Auditorium UPNVJ, Friday (15/3/2019). Through this socialization, the UPN "Veteran" Jakarta academic community, students, canteen managers and are required to bring shopping bags from home and reduce plastic straws.

The chief executive of Diyas, Mellya Octaviani, said that this was one of a series to commemorate Earth Day. "There are several series of events that we have prepared to commemorate Earth Day later, such as fun running, an environmentally friendly bazaar that does not use plastic, and the last is the top event. on April 22.” he said

The event with the theme "Enviromental Girgahana 2019" invited speakers from the Deputy for Maritime Affairs and Natural Resources of BAPPENAS, Dr. Arifin Rudiyanto, MSc.

"We express our gratitude and high appreciation to UPNVJ for pioneering the environmental movement, especially the go-green campus without the use of plastic, this is a good start and has also become a comprehensive movement at UPNVJ from leaders to students and even canteen residents in the UPNVJ environment" . he said during an interview

Arifin also hopes that all tertiary institutions will launch a go green, no plastic program as has been implemented by UPNVJ in order to reduce plastic waste quickly.

Also present were the Expert Staff of the Minister of National Development Planning for Institutional Relations-BAPPENAS, Dr. Diani Sadiawati, SH, LLM and Pondok Labu Head of South Jakarta Nurul Baiti. At the end of the event the participants were given reusable straws made from Stainless Steel , in order to start a go green everyday lifestyle, are environmentally friendly and can also save money because they can be used repeatedly.
