HumasUPNVJ - Who would have thought that the Covid – 19 pandemic had been almost a year old. There are many things that we have to face in living life in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic which has not yet ended. Enthusiasm that never fades may be difficult to maintain, but to do something productive, enthusiasm is what is really needed.

UPN Veteran Jakarta should be proud, even though during a pandemic like this, there is one more student representative from the Faculty of Law class of 2016, Syauki Lukman Sofwan who won an achievement in the world of archery, namely 3rd place in the Men's Recurve Team at the 6th INDONESIA Archery activity organized by Indonesia Archery Schools Program in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports . This activity was held from 15 to 17 January 2021 while maintaining health protocols.

The UPNVJ Public Relations Team had the opportunity to conduct a brief online interview with Syauki. In the interview, Syauki talked a lot about the activities he participated in, “There are quite a number of participants who took part in this competition, around 400 participants and it is open to the public. The preliminary round and determining the winner in the men's team recurve is carried out using a total score system and is carried out online via teleconference so that the jury can monitor it from afar, because there are many participants from out of town such as Aceh, East Kalimantan, and Malang ". Syauki explained

“This competition is very interesting because it is national level and quite challenging where I can meet archers who are much more skilled than me, where our fellow archers can also stay in touch and share information and knowledge of archery techniques and equipment. As we know, archery is a sport that prioritizes mentality and concentration, there are 3 main elements that need to be prepared 1 physically 2 mentally 3 techniques. I do as much exercise as possible both at the club and at home by focusing on physical endurance where I mostly train my upper body , then strengthen mentally by calming my mind by praying or communicating well with anyone. It is from this physical and mental strengthening that I have made improvements to my technique starting from a sided position, hooking, aiming, fulldraw, anchor, release and followthrough then holding my breath for the next shot.” he continued

Syauki also shared his joys and sorrows in participating in this activity, "There are many ups and downs, starting from a shoulder injury due to incorrect expansion of the back muscles, the fingers of the right hand being numb, mostly pulling the strings , buying arrows of the wrong size (this is the worst) to having to re - tun the instrument. If you like starting from increasing physical endurance, meeting lots of new friends in the world of archery including meeting athletes from various regions, friendship can be more exciting because while archery you can still social distance (because archery is a sport that is carried out by each person and does not touch at all) ). Apart from that, there were also happy moments when I managed to shoot on the 10th straight in a competition and for me archery is a sport that calms my mind and heart.” he concluded

"In the future, we hope that at UPNVJ there will soon be an archery UKM because there are so many university-level archery events that one can participate in, it's never too late to start. There are many advantages that we can get from archery, namely physical and mental strength, and because archery is still something that is not widely known in Indonesian society today, so there are still great opportunities for anyone who wants to join in the national archery contest. In addition, Indonesia is well known at the international level after winning several times at the Archery World Cup and the Asian Cup , even at the Asian Games and Sea Games . Even the Indonesian archer Riau Ega Agata once defeated the world's no.1 archer, Kim Wo Jin at the 2016 Olympics. Close it

This activity is centered at the University of Indonesia Felfest Archery Range.
