Public Relations of UPNVJ – The National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) officially released the Jakarta Veteran Pencak Silat (PSVJ) contingent to take part in the International Championship "Indonesia Pencak Silat Paku Bumi Open 13 Championship 2025".
This championship is organized by the Paku Bumi Pencak Silat School and will take place from Friday to Sunday, January 31 - February 2, 2025 at the Bandung Bedas Jalak Harupat Indoor Sports Hall, West Java.
A total of 22 students who are members of the PSVJ team have been sent off today to take part in various competition categories. They will compete in several classes of competition and art, both in the male and female categories. The categories that are followed include:

The Head of PSVJ, Wahid, conveyed his hopes to the Chancellor of UPNVJ and his staff who were present at that time so that the UPNVJ contingent could achieve brilliant achievements in this championship. "We are targeting to bring home 30 medals in this championship. All athletes have prepared themselves with intensive training and high fighting spirit. We ask for prayers and support from the entire UPNVJ academic community so that our team can give the best results," he said.
Rector Prof. Dr. Anter Venus, MA., Comm also gave his support to the PSVJ athletes who will compete in this international championship. “PSVJ is one of the UKM that has contributed the most achievements. We are basically very proud of the spirit and dedication of the students who will represent UPNVJ in this prestigious event. Their participation not only brings a good name to the university, but also becomes a form of contribution in preserving and developing pencak silat as an Indonesian cultural heritage. We hope that all contingents can give their best, uphold sportsmanship, and achieve proud achievements,” said Venus.
Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Cooperation, and Information Systems Dr. dr. Ria Maria Theresa, SpKJ., MH also expressed her support for the PSVJ team and emphasized that in addition to winning medals, the most important thing is the safety of all students. "We really appreciate the hard work and enthusiasm of the PSVJ team in facing this championship. However, what is more important than medals is ensuring that all students return safely and in good condition. We hope that they can compete with full enthusiasm, maintain their health, and uphold the values of sportsmanship," said the woman who is familiarly called Ria.
The 2025 Paku Bumi Open 13 International Championship was attended by various schools and pencak silat athletes from within and outside the country. This competition is a prestigious event for pencak silat athletes to show their best abilities and strengthen the existence of pencak silat as Indonesia's cultural heritage in the international arena.
With high spirit and optimism, the PSVJ team is ready to fight and make UPNVJ proud in this competition. Hopefully they can achieve proud achievements and become an inspiration for other students.
