HI UPNVJ Student Wins Award as Honorable Mention at IYLMUN 2021

HumasUPNVJ - International Youth Legacy Model United Nations is a UN Debate Simulation, which was held for two days, April 24-25 2021, online. IYLMUN is part of the Collegacy Jakarta platform . Naomi registered to take part in this competition and received a country allocation, namely: Indonesia, as a country represented in the International Labor Organization (ILO) council .

In her report, Naomi explained that the agenda being debated and negotiated was related to the welfare of workers in the digitalization era, where workers received unfair treatment from their place of work. Not a few workers were fired and their role was replaced by Artificial Intelligence or "human-made intelligence" such as machines and robots. This is beneficial for companies because they no longer need to pay a lot of money to pay workers or workers. For this reason, in the ILO, all participants are looking for a solution so that the government can take decisive action, such as imposing high taxes on companies that have a minimum workforce, in this case the government needs to collaborate with international organizations such as the OECD to develop tax policies that are substantive. Likewise with other solutions, such as empowering "vocational" programs from the village. It cannot be denied that globalization cannot be stopped, so that the workforce must be reliable in terms of skills and adaptive, so that they can contribute better in their workplace. After debate, diplomacy, and negotiations between delegations, it was finally decided by the jury or the Chairs of the ILO that Naomi Niken won an award as " Honorable Mention " or 3rd Place.
