HumasUPNVJ – Four UPN Veteran Jakarta students registered in the Outstanding Student Selection competition organized by the Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs this morning (22/6/2022) held an English proficiency test. This test is one of the assessments set by the Student Affairs Division (with a portion of 20%) to select Mawapres UPN Veterans Jakarta. Located at R.201 R.A Kartini Building, the four candidates were tested directly by the instructor and secretary of UPT Language, Tuti Ismawati.
The series of ability test activities consist of ELPT test, speaking, writing, and finally an interview. Tuti explained that in this proficiency test the emphasis was on speaking skills to prepare candidates to make video presentations in English. Then a writing test is carried out because later the candidate must write a summary of the creative ideas proposed in English as well. Only after this the candidates are interviewed by examiners.
Tuti hopes that the students who will be selected as Outstanding Students this year will be UPN Veterans Jakarta students. Besides that, Tuti also hopes that more students will participate in this event next year so that the selection process will be more varied. “Indeed, the screening must be strict, but as much as possible, there are at least two candidates from each faculty. So we have more options," she explained.
At the end of the event, the PR team interviewed a candidate named Royal Eden, a fourth semester student of Medical Sciences. According to Eden, the ability test that was held made her more motivated to improve her English skills. Eden considered the series of tests quite interesting. "Thank you UPT Bahasa, the staff, and of course the rector and its staff for providing an opportunity for us students who always want to excel to be able to compete to be able to complain about their achievements as well."
Eden also advised other students to never get tired of achieving. “Never get tired of achieving because in our campus we are very appreciated. There are even prizes and official recognition for outstanding students. With our achievements, we also improve ourselves to be even better," she concluded.
