UPNVJ PR – Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at the Jakarta Veterans National Development University (UPNVJ) Dr. Anter Venus, MA.Comm said that 1,202 new student candidates were declared accepted through the S-1 Independent Selection at UPNVJ after going through a rigorous selection process.

“S-1 Independent Selection is the last opportunity for prospective students to be able to study in the UPNVJ S-1 program. Previously, there were already prospective students who were accepted through the National Selection for State University Entrance (SNMPTN) and Joint Selection for State University Entrance (SBMPTN)," said Venus in a press release broadcast in Jakarta, Tuesday (12/7/2022).

Venus, who is the Chair of the UPNVJ New Student Admissions Committee, explained that the UPNVJ Undergraduate Independent Selection used the SBMPTN Computer-Based Written Examination (UTBK) scores as a benchmark. In addition to UTBK scores, achievement track applicants can also get additional points from achievements, including achievements in the science, sports, and arts olympiads ranked first to third at the provincial, national, and international levels in the last three years, the OSIS chairman who has served at least one period and hafidz Al Quran and Youtube Content Creator.

Venus said that prospective students who did not qualify still had the opportunity to register through the Second Phase of the Independent S-1 Selection which will be announced on Tuesday (12/7/22) via Instagram and the UPN Veterans Jakarta website. In addition, there is a Phase II D-3 Independent Selection which is still open until July 24, 2022.

“There are five D-3 study programs available at UPNVJ, namely D-3 Banking and Finance, D-3 Accounting, D-3 Information Systems, D-3 Nursing, and D-3 Physiotherapy. In contrast to the S-1 Self Selection which uses the UTBK SBMPTN scores, prospective students who register for the D-3 Independent Selection will be re-tested using a computer based test (CBT)," he said.

The science and technology study programs that are most in demand are Medicine, Public Health, and Information Systems. While the study programs in the social and humanities fields are the most popular are Communication Studies, Management, and Law.

"Medical Study Program enthusiasts reached 2,006 people and were accepted by 70 people, while Communication Science Study Program enthusiasts reached 2,216 people and were accepted by 103 people," he explained.

Venus said the ratio of the number of applicants to the accepted students was very high, indicating that the competition for prospective students to be accepted at UPNVJ was very tight. On the other hand, it also shows that the interest of prospective students to study at UPNVJ is very high.

"Seeing the enthusiasm of prospective students to study at UPNVJ and the high quality of input, we are committed to providing the best service in carrying out the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely education, research, and community service," he said.
