Design Thinking Training and its Practice in an Academic Environment

HumasUPNVJ - Talking about Design thinking , we will discuss an ideology or a creative process to find solutions to complex problems that are centered on humans (users). Design thinking is also known as Business of Experience (BX). More specifically, design thinking is a series of cognitive, strategic and practical processes that are carried out repeatedly to create solutions that may not have been thought of before. Design thinking is also very useful when applied to academic aspects because it is considered capable of providing solutions to various problems in lectures. Based on these considerations, on Friday (February 3) at the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Hall a design thinking training was held and its practice in the UPNVJ academic environment.

This training was facilitated by Dr. Dwi Indra Purnomo, STP, MT who already has a lot of experience in the field of training. The event was opened by the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. R. Duddy Heryadi. In his remarks, Dudy said that it was hoped that this training would be of use to all academics in the UPNVJ environment. "Today we have an expert who will convey about how to think creatively. These resource persons are incredibly creative, we are trying to learn how to think in a structured way. Enjoy this training, I hope that what is learned will be of benefit to all of us," he said.

Dwi explained that initially there was design thinking to market products but now it is more of a mindset that hopefully can be developed at UPNVJ because this aspect of thinking is transdisciplinary, not multi-disciplinary or interdisciplinary anymore. Therefore, design thinking is a problem-solving process that uses elements from the designer's toolkit such as empathy with user focus and experimentation to come up with new solutions. This training event took place from 9 am to 16.00 WIB and was attended by various leaders from the dean to lecturers.
