HumasUPNVJ - Jakarta "Veteran" National Development University (UPNVJ) officially started the Introduction to New Student Campus Life (PKKMB) activity which took place at Tennis Indoor Senayan Jakarta on Tuesday, August 8 2023.
PKKMB UPNVJ 2023 was officially opened by the Chancellor Dr. Antar Venus MA Comm., which was marked by the sticking of a keris and the pinning of participant cards to student representatives from each faculty.
In her speech, Venus told a brief history of UPNVJ from what was originally named the "Veteran" National Development Academy, then became the "Veteran" National Development College, and finally UPN "Veteran" Jakarta.
Venus said that the word "Veteran" from UPNVJ was taken from the spirit of the veterans who had fought during the war to achieve Indonesian independence. It is hoped that UPNVJ students will also adopt the same spirit in striving for higher education in college.
There is also the word "Development" in the name of UPNVJ, which is called Venus in connection with the implementation of the knowledge gained from the lecture process.
"Learning to teach is not just theory, but whether it can be applied. I learned this for what, and it turns out that this is how to apply it. That's what is called that you have helped build," said Venus.
Next is regarding the identity of Bela Negara. Venus emphasized that there were only four universities in Indonesia with the label of Defending the Country, and one of them was UPNVJ.
Different from wartime, the Chancellor of UPNVJ said that all positive activities that students could do could be categorized as Defending the Country. For example, if students throw trash in its place, or do good to others or the environment, then that can be called an act of defending the country.
"There are military and non-military types of defending the country. All your behavior, to make this country more developed and orderly, is called defending the country," said Venus.
During her speech, Venus also taught the State Defense gestures to new students. He said that this gesture of crossing his arms over his chest can be interpreted as "fighting against various challenges to the sustainability of the nation."
Finally, Venus encourages new students to work together to help contribute to UPNVJ's target of becoming a superior campus with high competitiveness with international quality.
"The people who come here are the chosen and best people. Every year, we always rank 10 or 9 regarding the average ranking of student quality. So, you are all extraordinary people," concluded Venus.
