UPNVJ Accepts 58 Students from Western to Eastern Regions of the Archipelago to Study for One Semester

HumasUPNVJ – The Independent Student Exchange Program (PMM) at UPN "Veteran" Jakarta has entered its 3rd Batch. As meant by the Ministry of Education and Culture, PMM is an important initiative in the world of higher education in Indonesia. PMM provides opportunities for students from various tertiary institutions to study in different academic environments, while also deepening their understanding of Indonesia's diversity.

In the Odd Semester of the 2023/2024 Academic Year, UPNVJ accepted 58 students from various regions outside Java Island. The welcoming and acceptance ceremony was held on 14 August 2023 at the Auditorium of FK Gd. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Lt. 3.

The ceremony was opened by the Head of LP3M, Satria Yudhia, SE, M.Ak by reporting the PMM acceptance program. The interest in the PMM program at UPNVJ can be said to have increased from last year. There were 390 students representing 82 tertiary institutions in Indonesia who registered at UPNVJ. After going through the selection process, 62 students were declared passed but only 59 people confirmed and then 1 person resigned. With that, it was recorded that 58 students actively participated in PMM Batch 3 at UPNVJ.

Satria also said that the distribution of students coming to UPNVJ was evenly distributed throughout Indonesia. The most distant students came from the westernmost region of the archipelago, namely Malikussaleh University and Syiah Kuala University. Meanwhile, from the easternmost region of the archipelago, UPNVJ students from the Papua High School of Health Sciences arrived.

When interviewed by the UPNVJ Public Relations Team, several students admitted that the reason for choosing UPNVJ was because they had never set foot in Jakarta. “Because I've never been to Jakarta and I want to visit Java Island and I'm interested in… coincidentally my major is Information Systems. I see how the Information System is in UPNVJ." Said Esterika Simangunsong, Prima Indonesia University, North Sumatra. His statement was also supported by Nur Mayanti, a friend of his alma mater.

The students were also very interested in the identity of the State Defense Campus which is closely related to UPNVJ. "I found out what UPNVJ was like and it turned out that UPNVJ is a state defense university in Jakarta." Said Mutiara R. Pangulu from Gorontalo State University. Mutiara hopes that UPNVJ will teach students a lot of things related to the fighting spirit of defending the country.

Not only the two reasons above, there is also La Ode Mahzum who claims to have hopes that UPNVJ can facilitate itself to explore start-ups and media in Jakarta. “As far as I know, there are lots of cool start-ups in Jakarta. So, I want to explore what's in Jakarta. Then with me registering at UPNVJ I want UPNVJ to be a bridge for me to explore some cool start-ups and media in Jakarta."

In line with the reasons and expectations of students, the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. dr. Ria Maria Theresa, SpKJ., MH, who in this case represents the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, expressed a commitment that UPNVJ will provide its best service and teaching in order to realize the expectations and achieve the goals of this PMM program. Ria revealed that UPNVJ had prepared a study module which would certainly introduce students to Jakarta culture.

The ceremony for welcoming and accepting PMM 3 students was finally closed with a procession of symbolically pinning the alma mater as a sign that UPNVJ PMM students had been accepted.
