Becoming an Indonesian Delegation, HI UPNVJ Students Participate in the 2023 ASEAN Youth Conference

Public RelationsUPNVJ - Sarah Juwita, a student at the National Development University "Veteran" Jakarta from the International Relations study program class of 2021, took part in the 2023 ASEAN Youth Conference at the ASEAN Secretariat Jakarta which lasted for three days on 3-5 November 2023.

As an Indonesian delegate representing SOS Children's Villages Indonesia, Sarah Juwita joined the 2023 ASEAN Youth Conference along with 130 other delegates from 30 countries.

The ASEAN Youth Conference 2023 provides a unique platform for Sarah Juwita to connect with colleagues, policy makers and experts to deepen understanding of regional issues and foster a global perspective.

There are three pillars in the conference, namely the ASEAN Economic Pillar, ASEAN Political-Security Pillar, and ASEAN Socio-Cultural Pillar. On this occasion, Sarah Juwita chose the ASEAN Political-Security Pillar with the main topic Advancing Youth, Peace and Security Agenda

Throughout the conference, Sarah Juwita was actively involved in discussions which included collaborative initiatives on several issues with the theme "Guardians of the Sustainable Future for a Resilient ASEAN."

"I had the opportunity to make a short speech on behalf of the Indonesian delegation by bringing up one of the 10 issues available in the pillar I chose, namely Radicalism and Extreme Violence in ASEAN Youth," said Sarah Juwita.

"As discussions continued on selecting issues or topics to be discussed, my team finally chose to discuss Drug Trafficking," he continued.

The ASEAN Youth Conference is an annual event that gathers the best young people from all over Southeast Asia and Europe to engage in innovative discussions regarding various challenges in the ASEAN region.
