UPNVJ Hosts International Webinar on the Future of Sustainable Agriculture in ASEAN

Public RelationsUPNVJ - Center for Sustainable and Strategic Development Studies (SSUD) UPN Veteran Jakarta is proud to announce an international webinar entitled "The Future of Sustainable Agriculture in ASEAN: Agricultural Law." This event will take place on Tuesday, May 21 2024 from 15.00 to 16.30 WIB via Zoom .

This webinar, which was officially opened by the Chancellor of UPN Veteran Jakarta, is a collaborative effort between SSUD UPNVJ, ASEAN-China Norms, Research Institute on Contemporary Southeast Asia (IRASEC), and Asia-Europe Institute of University Malaya. This event aims to foster a comprehensive discourse regarding sustainable agricultural practices in the ASEAN region.

Discussing the "Future of Sustainable Agriculture in ASEAN: Agricultural Law" addresses the important need for sustainable agricultural practices in the ASEAN region. With rapid industrialization, climate change and the technology gap becoming major challenges, this webinar seeks to find solutions that balance economic growth with environmental conservation and social welfare. This event aims to develop strategies and policies that can be followed up across ASEAN countries to ensure long-term sustainability in the agricultural sector by bringing together experts from various fields.

This webinar presents prominent speakers, including: Prof. Rajah Rasiah, Asia-Europe Institute, Universiti Malaya (Malaysia), Dr. Fadhil Hasan, UPN Veteran Jakarta (Indonesia), Prof. Ahmed Osumanu Haruna, Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (Brunei Darussalam), Dr. Gabrial Facal, Institute for Contemporary Southeast Asia Research (France), Naw Shareen, Myanmar Survey Research (Myanmar).

This webinar also functions as a forum to disseminate the results of the joint working group workshop for writing a Book Chapter, which was held by SSUD-UPNVJ in November 2023. The aim of this group is to produce a comprehensive book that summarizes sustainable agricultural practices throughout ASEAN, this webinar can be a means receive valuable feedback and input on book chapters from participants.

Dianwicaksih Arieftiara, as Chair of SSUD, emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in achieving sustainability goals. “We are honored to be able to bring together prominent speakers to discuss the future of sustainable agriculture in ASEAN. "This webinar marks the beginning of an important dialogue regarding sustainability," he said.
