HumasUPNVJ – Alumni of the Student Regiment (Menwa) of the National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) planted 133 mangrove trees at Post 2 of the Angke Kapuk Forest Protection Area, North Jakarta on Saturday morning, February 22, 2025.

This activity aims to support environmental conservation and reduce the impact of coastal abrasion in coastal areas.

A total of 35 mangrove trees came from the UPNVJ Faculty of Engineering, while the rest were from alumni and students. This activity was attended by the Dean of the UPNVJ Faculty of Engineering and the Head of the UPNVJ National Defense Study Center as well as a number of students and alumni.

The activity began with counseling on the importance of mangroves to maintain coastal ecosystems and as natural protection from natural disasters, such as floods and tidal waves. Participants then planted thousands of mangrove seedlings at several points that had been prepared in the area.

This activity is a real form of UPNVJ's concern for the environment and the commitment of UPNVJ Menwa alumni in contributing to environmental sustainability.

In addition, this event also aims to strengthen relations between alumni and provide positive contributions to environmental sustainability in the Jakarta area. Since its inception, Menwa UPNVJ has been known as an active organization in social and environmental activities.

This mangrove planting activity received appreciation from various parties, including the Angke Kapuk Forest management and the surrounding community. The planted mangroves are expected to grow well and provide long-term benefits for the coastal ecosystem, as well as help mitigate the risk of natural disasters.
