Commemorating National Defense Day, Chancellor of UPN Veterans Jakarta (UPNVJ) Dr. ERNA HERNAWATI, Ak, CPMA, CA leads a pilgrimage to the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery (TMP) Jakarta, Thursday (12/19/2019).
"The pilgrimage is meant to commemorate the services of the past heroes," explained the Chancellor of UPNVJ.
The pilgrimage of the UPNVJ delegation was attended by the Chancellor of UPNVJ, Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. dr. Ria Maria Theresa, SpKJ., MH, as well as Heads of Institutions, Heads of Bureaus, Heads of Technical Implementation Units, Student Representatives and Student Regiments (Menwa).
The pilgrimage begins with a general tribute to the spirits of the Kusuma Bangsa heroes and continues with a moment of silence, laying a wreath symbolically at Tugu TMP, followed by laying flowers on the heroes.
This kind of thing, said the Chancellor of UPNVJ, was a commitment as a state defense campus to pay tribute to the services of heroes who had fought, heroes who were willing to sacrifice their bodies and souls for Indonesian independence. “This is one part that we must always guard. Interpreting the journey of this nation's struggle with the ideals of the fighters with a hard, strong struggle, sacrificing wealth and lives in liberating this nation, "concluded the Chancellor.
By making a pilgrimage to the heroes' graves, it is hoped that the academic community will have a strong spirit of defending the country and are willing to sacrifice for the progress of Indonesia.
