HumasUPNVJ - On Wednesday, 30 June 2021 a webinar with the theme "Study Abroad Opportunities for Students" was held at 12.00 - 14.30 WIB by KUI UPNVJ. The speaker for this webinar is Mr. Dadang Effendy Syamsudin, MBA, Ph,D. who is Marketing Director, Empire Guard Security Services and Staff at the Indonesian Embassy in Manilla, Philippines and Mr. Indra Kusumah, M.Sc. Ph.D. cand who is a data science & project management industry 4.0 expert from Germany. This webinar was hosted by Ms. Sindy Yulia Putri, S.Pd, M.Sc. who is a UPNVJ HI Lecturer and was opened by Vice Chancellor III Dr. dr. Ria Maria Theresa, Sp.KJ. MH and Head of KUI UPNVJ Dr. Bambang Susanto, M.A
At the opening Dr. Bambang and Warek III UPNVJ stressed the importance of students and lecturers as well as faculty representatives to take advantage of the facilities provided by the UPNVJ KUI in seeing academic opportunities, especially in the Philippines and Germany. In his presentation, Mr Dadang emphasized several important points such as: (1) the chances of being accepted by Indonesian students were quite large and the historical linkages between the Philippines and Indonesia from the colonial period gave a similar breath to Indonesia. The schools in the Philippines themselves have received ISO certificates and public schools in the Philippines are not money-oriented; (2) The Philippines is attractive to international students because English is used as an introduction and English which is the result of US influence making the Philippines the 3rd largest English speaking country in the world. Universities in the Philippines themselves have international professors and instructors who are capable in their fields. Mr. Dadang also presented several comparative case studies of various public and private universities in the Philippines based on the results of CHED's research. Mr. Dadang also explained the conditions and the support given by the Philippine government to study abroad.
The presentation was then continued by Mr. Indra Kusumah, Ph.D, who emphasized that Indonesians have the power to adapt when studying in Europe, especially in Germany. Germany itself has high quality and cheap tuition fees, as well as easy-to-obtain halal food and many job opportunities and scholarships available in Germany. Mr. Indra also explained about the need for workers in Germany and in the European Union as well as favorite sectors that Indonesian students can explore while having a career in Germany during their studies. The amount of income in Germany itself varies, but it can meet basic daily needs and the systematics of the education level process itself was also explained by Mr. Indra from the Bachelor to Doctoral level. The webinar itself was followed by a discussion session in which students and staff from UPNVJ participated to ask questions about challenges and opportunities for scholarships, opportunities for collaboration between universities, and what would be described about research, work, and what needs to be considered.
