As an effort to increase the competence of quality graduates through direct and flexible experiential learning programs from professional experts in the top managerial field from various sectors and industries the UPN Veteran Jakarta Masters Management Study Program (UPNVJ) is holding its 9th Webinar Executives series on, Thursday (24/03/22).

The webinar was held with the theme Optimizing Corporate Value Through Mergers and Acquisitions, inviting guest speaker Wijayanto Samirin who is an Independent Commissioner of PT. Indosat Tbk.

In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Dr. Dianwicaksih Arieftiara, believes that the merger and acquisition strategy is an interesting topic, because with this strategy the company can increase the value of the company.

The event was attended by 200 participants including UPNVJ Master of Management students and from various universities in Indonesia.

The activity agenda is two-way with a presentation by Wijayanto Samirin.

In his presentation, Wijayanto said that there were several reasons for success and failure in mergers and acquisitions.

He also conveyed several successful examples of Mergers and Acquisitions in Indonesia such as Bank Mandiri = Bappindo + BBD + Exim + BDN, Bank Permata = B patriot + B Prima + B Bali + B Artha Media + B Universal, Google acquired Youtube (USD 1, 65 bio), Google acquires Android (USD 50 mio), Exxon + Mobil (USD 80 bio), Disney + Pixar. While several examples of companies that failed to carry out Acquisitions and Mergers such as Daimler + Chrysler (USD 36 bio), Microsoft + Nokia (USD 7 bio), Google + Motorola (USD 12.5 bio), Sprint + Nextel (USD 35 bio), and AOL + Time Warner (USD 111 bio).

The event ended with the awarding of certificates to the resource persons and Moderators, after which a quiz was also held for the audience by obtaining Credit Vouchers, Books and Meals by the sponsors who supported the smooth running of the event.
