Establishment of Indonesian Corner in Kazakh Ablai Khan University Of International Relations And World Languages, Almaty, Kazakhstan

UPNVJ PR - The visit of the Delegation of the Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Jakarta University (UPN VJ) to Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages, Almaty, Kazakhstan from 9-11 June 2022 is a historic activity for UPNVJ, considering that apart from having successfully agreed on student exchange and lectures collaboration, summer course, mobility, joint research and publications have also succeeded in establishing the Indonesian Corner.

The establishment of this Indonesian corner is a pilot program and as a foundation for a higher education institution to strengthen the foothold of cooperation, which is not only in the field of education but is an opportunity for developing relations in a wider aspect for the two countries.

Mrs. Prof. Dr. Erna Hernawati, Rector of UPNVJ in her opening remarks at the Indonesian Corner said that the process of internationalizing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education can be carried out through multitrack cooperation, so that in addition to strengthening networks that will be able to capture wider cooperation opportunities, unraveling goals and targets that are paritif will also provide opportunities and chance aspects of cooperation in other fields as needed.

Ms. Tatyana Seryozhkina, Vice Rector for Student Policy, Kazakh Ablai Khan University of International Relations and World Languages ​​enthusiastically welcomed the establishment of the Indonesian Corner which will become a backbound relationship and cooperation between the Kazakh Ablai Khan University and UPNVJ in the future. This collaboration is the right momentum as an effort to get to know each other more deeply through cooperation in education, social culture, and other important fields for the academic community and society of the two countries in general.

Kazakhstan, a country that is geographically located in the Central Asian region along with Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan is a country that was previously under the influence of the Soviet Union which became independent in 1991, is the most developed country in the Central Asian region. The landlocked country with the 9th largest area in the world, has nearly 20 million people and has a percapita income of more than US $ 10,000.

The existence of the Indonesian Corner at Kazakh Ablai Khan University International Relations and World Languages, in the city of Almaty, the largest city in Kazakhstan with a population of more than 2 million people, which is also nicknamed the student city, has a very strategic meaning for the internationalization of UPNVJ in Central Asia. This position will make it easier to pioneer the development of cooperation in other fields such as economy, trade and tourism through education.

The Indonesian Corner is located in a fairly adequate room equipped with photos of the President of the Republic of Indonesia and the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, the national symbol of Garuda, the Red and White Flag and promotional materials such as books, leaflets, brochures, tourism promotions, a number of traditional Indonesian souvenirs as well as Balinese clothing, and so on.

Indonesian Corner will carry out a number of activities such as: Adding and completing filling out items/promotional materials in the form of cultural arts objects and other products, especially those related to Indonesia, Teaching Indonesian language for Ablai Khan academic community and Kazakh language for UPNVJ Academic Community, Delivering information and invites related institutions in Indonesia to collaborate in filling out promotional materials and discussing opportunities for exhibitions, seminars, cultural arts performances, online, offline and hybrid information exchange, Student Union collaboration programs, Pioneering the formation of 'Friends of Indonesia' / Indonesianis from the Ablai Campus Khan, Cultural implementation and workshops, such as dance, batik, carving, gamelan, and others that can be held virtually, offline, or hybrid, International Student Competition, Family Home Stay Student Exchange.
