UPNVJ PR – UPN Veterans Jakarta won its first gold medal in the PORSIMNAS WIMAYA 2022 event on Tuesday (12/07/2022). The medal was presented by Wahid Oktovian who participated in the Pencak Silat sport in the Men's Singles Arts category. This achievement is certainly very proud, especially knowing that Wahid is a Communication Science student who had just been accepted at UPNVJ through the SNMPTN route this year.

Wahid was declared the champion after the judges gave a score of 426 points. The score obtained is quite a lot. In the Raw Single Art category, participants were asked to perform 100 pencak silat moves in three minutes starting with their bare hands, using a machete, and also a toya.

When interviewed by the Public Relations Team, Wahid explained that the assessment was seen from several aspects; Movement, strength, and facial expressions, “The way to judge it is from the stability of the motion, the clarity of the motion, the power, and then from the expression on his face. Later if the machete or toya or the art cloth falls off or falls, it can be a deduction in value,” he explained.

As a new student, Wahid readily admits that he is proud of the achievements that have been achieved. Wahid advised the participants of PORSIMNAS WIMAYA 2022 to always be enthusiastic and fight so that they can give the best for the beloved campus of UPNVJ.
