Together with Global Health Focus, LPPM UPNVJ Promotes Health and Disaster Issues

HumasUPNVJ - Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) National Development University "Veteran Jakarta together with Global Health Focus (GHF) collaborated again in holding a seminar entitled "The Environmental Impact on Human Health: Climate Change and Natural Disasters" in Jakarta on Tuesday, 18 July 2023.

 

This is a continuation of the previous collaboration which presented a scientific writing and publication workshop for UPNVJ lecturers.

Head of LPPM UPNVJ Sri Lestari Wahyuningrum, Ph.D. said that the Global Health Seminar with GHF was the first step towards a long-term goal, namely to establish a Center of Excellence on issues such as health, climate change, disaster management, the environment and so on.

"Climate change has become a topic of discussion around the world, and this issue is relevant and we experience it every day. Climate change has an extraordinary impact, both on the environment, health and all of us," said Sri Lestari Wahyuningrum at the start of the event.

He hoped that the UPNVJ and GHF collaborative seminar could become an inspiring process that would bring in various inputs and ideas. Later, these ideas can be managed for a variety of useful things, both in the fields of teaching, research and community service.

Opening the seminar, UPNVJ Chancellor Dr. Anther Venus, MA. Comm said he was proud to be able to work with a reputable organization like GFH. He said the seminar was part of UPNVJ's vision to become an internationally recognized and reputable university.

"UPN Veteran Jakarta has a lot of potential, including a line of researchers and future professionals whose hands are at stake to make a difference and major changes in global health development, especially in the midst of climate change and global warming issues," said Venus.

Regarding the field of disasters, Venus said that disasters are inevitable. Natural disasters such as floods or landslides, and health disasters such as the Covid-19 pandemic, are believed to return in the future in a different form.

"Then what can we do? What can we do to prepare for future disasters? What can we do with our precious human capital?" she asked.

Center of Excellence

He emphasized that UPNVJ aspires to take fast and decisive action and steps forward to become a leading university in Indonesia in the field of health and disaster. UPNVJ also has a vision to establish a Center of Excellence which will facilitate researchers and professionals in Disaster and Emergency Preparedness.

This seminar, said Venus, would be the first big step towards this goal, so that UPNVJ can start contributing to the future of health in Indonesia and also the world.

"I would like to express my deepest gratitude and gratitude to Global Health Focus for choosing UPNVJ as the first university to cooperate with in Indonesia," he concluded.

Sources from outside the university environment include GHF founder Prof Don-Eliseo Lucero-Prisno III; dr. Bagus Tjajono as Main Widyaiswara Expert of BNPB; Head of the Indonesian Ministry of Health Health Crisis Center Dr. Sumarjaya, SKM, MM, MFP, CFA; and the Head of the Behavior Change Division of the Covid-19 Task Force Dr. Sonny Harry Budiutomo Harmadi, SE., ME,.

Meanwhile, two other sources were UPNVJ lecturer Desak Nyoman Sithi, S.Kp., MARS., Ph.D. and Dr. Ir. Eko Teguh Paripurno as a lecturer at UPN Veterans Yogyakarta.
