HumasUPNVJ - Murdoch University, a university from Australia, is exploring cooperation with the Jakarta "Veteran" National Development University (UPNVJ). The scope of potential cooperation discussed varies, ranging from curriculum to lecturer exchanges.
Representing Murdoch University, Ian Wilson as Co-Director (interim) of the Indo-Pacific Research Center, said that the potential for cooperation in the context of the curriculum could cover the fields of global policy, studies on countering terrorism, global security, environment, climate change politics and cyber security.
In this case, Murdoch University implements a combination curriculum scheme, such as a combination of criminology and global security courses.
Murdoch University's mission of exploring cooperation was warmly welcomed by UPNVJ academics from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), which includes the study programs of Political Science, Communication Studies, International Relations and Information Science.
Secretary of the UPNVJ International Relations Study Program, Chairil Akbar Setiawan, expressed hope that the assessment with Murdoch University could become concrete cooperation in the future. Ian Wilson responded positively, and promised to follow up on this matter to the university leadership.
The same thing was also expressed by Ardli Johan Kusuma as the Head of Political Science Study Program and Restu Rahmawati who served as the Head of Political Science Study Program. Both of them hope that the collaboration with Murdoch University can be realized soon, including in the guest lecturer exchange scheme.
"This can be done. We will follow up on this cooperation assessment, especially regarding the recognition of UPNVJ guest lecturers at Murdoch University," said Ian Wilson when visiting UPNVJ on Monday, July 24, 2023.
He said that in principle, Murdoch University was ready to establish concrete cooperation with UPNVJ. However, because this is still an exploratory phase, there are various steps that must be taken first.
"The international affairs office of Murdoch University will develop a bureaucratic and administrative framework, while the substantive framework will be handled by the study center and related departments," said Ian Wilson.
Deputy Dean 3 of FISIP UPNVJ Musa Maliki appreciated Murdoch University's exploratory mission, and hoped that its realization would be realized soon.
"Hopefully the collaboration between Murdoch and UPNVJ can be realized soon, of course for the sake of research developments that are constantly changing due to the changing global political context," said Musa
