Public RelationsUPNVJ - The Student Senate from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, National Development University "Veteran" Jakarta (UPNVJ) conducted a study visit to the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) in Jakarta on Tuesday, September 19 2023. This visit entitled Parliamentary Education was attended by 80 members of the FISIP UPNVJ Student Senate and 66 internship participants.
The visit was carried out in order to increase the role of the FISIP Student Senate as a legislative body that formulates regulations and carries out supervision within the UPNVJ campus.
This activity also functions as a forum for a parliamentary education approach, so that participants can have an in-depth understanding of the duties and functions of the DPR RI as representatives of the people.
Through this visit, participants had the opportunity to understand the decision-making mechanism, the role of supervision, and the dynamics of interaction between the DPR RI and the government, elements of society, and various stakeholders.
"The arrival of these fellow students is part of learning to increase insight, especially regarding the function of the DPR RI, including the process of drafting laws in it," said Asep Kamaluddin as accompanying lecturer for the FISIP UPNVJ Student Senate.
The visit program includes face-to-face meetings with members of the DPR RI, discussion sessions, and seeing directly the various facilities and work spaces there. There is also a tour around the DPR RI complex which is guided directly by parliamentary staff for approximately two hours.
Specifically, the visiting participants gained an in-depth understanding of how the DPR RI makes laws and regulations; the reasons underlying the people's representatives in formulating legislative regulations; government monitoring scheme; coordination flow with related institutions; and the functions of the DPR RI and their implementation.
