UPNVJ Faculty Leaders Encouraged to Get Involved in Promotion of Lecturer Functional Positions

Public RelationsUPNVJ - The education and training series among faculty leaders at the Jakarta "Veteran" National Development University continues on Tuesday, October 24 2023, after previously being held in the middle of this month.

In this training session, the topics discussed included mapping lecturer careers and the involvement of faculty leaders in this process.

Chair of the UPNVJ Faculty Leadership Workshop, Prof. Dr. A. Heri Iswanto, SKM, MARS, said that the essence of a lecturer's career at a university revolves around functional positions -- Expert Assistant, Lector, Associate Professor and Professor.

So far, the matter of promotion to a lecturer's functional position at UPNVJ has been handed over to the individual concerned. However, in the future, UPNVJ wants faculty leaders to also be involved in the process.

"We don't want lecturers who have worked here for a long time but have not been promoted. On that basis, a logical framework has been created for lecturers who have not been promoted for a long time," said Prof Heri.

"In the future, these lecturers will be a priority for promotion. We want universities to also have a role in lecturer promotion, and this is put into a logical framework," he continued.

After using colorful paper in the previous session, this training involved using Lego as a prop. The participants modified each Lego block to illustrate the current material in a logical framework.

The use of Lego is also related to the spirit of the UPNVJ leadership training program which is designed to take place in several series.

"This is a continuation of the previous session which was three days. In the future it will still be the same. We will complete the unfinished blocks, so that it becomes a learning achievement in this leadership training," said Prof Heri.

Finally, Prof Heri hopes that this training can provide an understanding that every faculty leader has logical and rational thinking. When they have an idea for something, leaders can immediately make it happen.

"With a logical frame, this hope can be achieved with logical efforts, logical activities, and the output is also reasonable. Don't just know the goal, but don't know how to achieve it," concluded Prof Heri.
