Academic and Non-Academic Achievements, See How to Get the Mahardika Award

Public RelationsUPNVJ - A student's achievements can be achieved in academic and non-academic fields. Academic achievement in general includes the Grade Point Average (GPA), while non-academic includes things outside of lectures, such as being involved in social activities, being active in organizations or participating in various competitions.

For students at the National Development University "Veteran" Jakarta who excel in these two fields, there is an opportunity to receive the Karya Mahardika Award when they graduate.

The Karya Mahardika Award is a form of appreciation from UPN "Veteran" Jakarta which is given to Graduates of the Undergraduate Program and Diploma Program who have achievements in academic and non-academic fields. Mahardika Work Awards are given in the form of certificates and prizes.

"Mahardika is for truly special students, who excel in academic and non-academic fields. So it's not just GPA, but also other achievements. There are many things that are assessed," said Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs and Cooperation Dr. Dr. Ria Maria Theresa.

Mahardika's Criteria and Assessment

Candidates for the Karya Mahardika Award are determined based on an assessment of four criteria, namely GPA; certification or recognition; student competition; and student organizations.

GPA refers to a student's academic grades during lectures, while certification or recognition includes intellectual property rights; seminar speaker; publication of scientific articles in journals or newspapers; administrators of professional organizations including the positions of chairman, secretary or treasurer. This certification or recognition must come from an international institution or body.

Student competition points cover academic and non-academic domains, both at regional, national and international levels. A prospective Mahardika recipient needs to win 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in this competition point.

Meanwhile, student organizations refer to organizations within the UPNVJ environment. This point includes the Chair of the Student Executive Board (BEM), Student Consultative Council, and University or Faculty Senate. Chairpersons, core administrators, daily administrators or student association coordinators for departments or student activity units also fall into this category.

"Mahardika's goal is to motivate students, that studying is important, but there are also other things that are more important. If you excel, apart from yourself, there are also benefits for other people," said Ria.

"The hope is that all students can compete to achieve even higher achievements, both at national and international levels, both in academic and non-academic fields," he concluded.
