UPNVJ and the Embassy of Kazakhstan Discuss Plans to Establish a Center for Central Asian Studies

 

Public Relations UPNVJ - Jakarta "Veteran" National Development University (UPNVJ) through the International Affairs Office (KUI) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) which discussed plans to establish a Center for Central Asian Studies.

Also present in the discussion were the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Indonesia, Serzhan Abdykarimov; Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Uzbekistan concurrently Kyrgyzstan Asruhin (2010-2014); and Bauyrzhan Zhaparov, Head of the Economic and Education Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Jakarta.

On this occasion, Ambassador Serzhan Abdykarimov explained that Central Asia has a variety of natural, social, economic, investment riches and strong diplomatic relations with various friendly countries, including Indonesia.

"The opening of the Center for Central Asian Studies can improve bilateral relations between the two parties, a platform for academic and research exchanges, increase economic cooperation by increasing understanding, and build cultural bridges between the two parties," said Ambassador Serzhan in front of invited guests and student representatives. From the Indonesian side, Asruhin explained Indonesia's foreign policy policy of being free to be active in Central Asia, as well as the strength of bilateral relations between Indonesia and Uzbekistan from time to time.

"Central Asia is an important region because this region has not been well optimized and has historical, social and religious similarities with Indonesia," stressed Asruhin.

As a follow-up to the future, KUI UPNVJ and the Embassy of Kazakhstan will build a digital platform to disseminate information and publications as well as prepare an operational budget regarding the construction of the Center for Central Asian Studies.
