Mental Health to Sexual Violence Becomes Topics of Discussion at UPNVJ PKKMB 2024

HumasUPNVJ - The topics of mental health, anti-bullying, and sexual violence were discussed on the second day of the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) of the National Development University "Veteran" Jakarta at Tennis Indoor Senayan, Tuesday, August 13, 2024.

In front of thousands of new UPNVJ students, Master of Psychology Liza Marielly began her presentation by discussing the topic of mental health.

"A healthy mind is someone who has awareness of their abilities and potential," he said.

Liza also discussed how mental health problems can often arise from excessive negative emotions towards the facts a person receives.

“Mental conditions can worsen if someone is trapped in a mindset influenced by negative emotions. Understanding and managing emotional reactions to various situations is key to maintaining mental health,” he explained.

Next, Liza Marielly highlighted the issue of bullying in the environment. Bullying can occur if there are components in the form of repetitive behavior, power imbalance, and planned actions.

“Bullying is a serious problem that requires attention and action from all parties,” he added.

It also provides practical guidance for students on how to identify, prevent and report bullying.

Liza's presentation then turned to the topic of sexual violence, which became one of the important highlights. She emphasized that sexual violence is a violation of human rights that requires firm action.

“We all have a responsibility to ensure that our campuses are free from sexual violence. Education, empathy, and the courage to speak up are essential steps in combating this problem,” said Liza, who also explained the reporting procedures and support available to victims of sexual violence.

Through this presentation, it is hoped that new UPNVJ 2024 students can begin their academic journey more prepared, with a better understanding of mental health, anti-bullying, and sexual violence. This can be a positive step towards creating a more inclusive and safe campus environment for all.
