Jakarta, August 12, 2024 – Hundreds of new students of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) enthusiastically participated in an inspirational talk show entitled "Building Gen Z Character for a Bright Future" which was held as part of a series of activities for the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB). This event presented inspiring speakers from various backgrounds, who managed to ignite the enthusiasm of the participants, namely Ricky Boy Permata, Olivia Louis, and Irvan Susandy (photo: from left to right).
Present as a speaker, Ricky Boy Permata, Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of PT Trimegah Karya Pratama Tbk (IDX: UVCR), emphasized the importance of building a strong character for the younger generation in the digital era. "Generation Z needs to have a smart lifestyle from an early age," said Ricky Boy. He invited students to actively build relationships and continue to learn new things. "Start playing while balancing it with making money," he said.
Ricky Boy also gave an in-depth view on the importance of financial literacy for the younger generation. He encouraged students to start investing early, one of which is through the capital market.
In line with Ricky Boy, Olivia Louis, a young influencer, also emphasized the importance of investment, especially investment in oneself. "Investment from the neck up is very important for generation Z. By improving soft skills and knowledge, we will be better prepared to face future challenges," said Olivia. According to Olivia, generation Z has great potential to have an easy future, but needs to be equipped with adequate soft skills.
Irvan Susandy, Director of the Indonesia Stock Exchange, also provided a perspective on the benefits of investing in stocks for Gen Z today. He invited students to get to know the capital market better and utilize various sources of information available, including social media. "By understanding the capital market, we can make smarter investment decisions," said Irvan.
Mr. Changkun Shin, Director of Kiwoom Securities, added that the younger generation needs to have an entrepreneurial mindset. "Don't be afraid to start a business early. Students have many creative ideas that can be developed into business opportunities, but they need to be considered carefully and not fomo ," he said.
This talk show successfully provided motivation and inspiration for new UPNVJ students. They were invited to not only focus on academic achievement, but also develop themselves holistically, both in terms of character, knowledge, and skills.
