UPNVJ and CMC Philippines Hold Academic Collaboration in Jakarta

 

Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta (UPNVJ) is proud to announce the success of a series of academic collaboration activities with Central Mindanao Colleges (CMC), Philippines in Jakarta on September 26-29, 2024.

The activities involved cultural, academic meetings and interactive dialogues that strengthened the two institutions' international cooperation in education, research and intercultural understanding.

The event began with the pick-up of the CMC Delegation at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport on Thursday, September 26, who were warmly welcomed by representatives of the UPNVJ Office of International Affairs (KUI) and accompanying students.

In the initial meeting, the CMC delegates were invited to explore Jakarta by shopping and watching the Sumarak Minangkabau Festival, which added a unique and memorable experience of Indonesia's rich culture.

Not only that, the CMC delegation visited Jakarta's iconic religious sites, namely the Cathedral Church and the Istiqlal Mosque. Through this activity, they gained insight into the harmony between religious communities in Indonesia.

The activity ended with a dinner with the leadership of UPNVJ, as an effort to strengthen diplomatic relations between the two institutions as well as discuss the prospects for educational cooperation.

Artificial intelligence

On Saturday, September 28, 2024, CMC and UPNVJ delegates participated in Panukiduki 6.0: International Multidisciplinary Research Conference. The event was held in Nusantara Room 1, UPNVJ in a hybrid manner, and was attended by speakers from CMC and more than 700 participants.

In this conference, the speakers discussed various issues related to Artificial Intelligence (AI), ranging from the ethical implications of using AI to the development of AI methodologies in academic research. The interactive discussion ended with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UPNVJ and CMC.

Ending the series of activities on Sunday, the CMC delegation visited the Setu Babakan Cultural Site, South Jakarta. The delegation was welcomed by the site manager and invited to watch traditional Betawi art performances, including the Sirih Kuning dance performance, and taste typical Betawi cuisine.

This activity provides an opportunity for delegates to experience first-hand the richness of Betawi culture and strengthen mutual respect between cultures.

This collaboration between UPNVJ and CMC is expected to be the foundation for close and sustainable educational cooperation, paving the way for new initiatives in research, cultural exchange, and higher education in the future.
