HumasUPNVJ - Retirement is not an easy matter. Entering retirement without preparation will affect physical and mental health. Not a few experience post-power syndrome which results in poor social relations, illness, and even financial chaos.
To avoid these things, the Civil Service of the National Development University “Veteran” Jakarta held training to prepare for retirement.
This activity will take place at the Aryaduta Hotel Bandung for three days, starting from Monday, November 11 to November 13, 2024.
Anter Venus, UPNVJ Rector also attended the event and gave a speech to 24 participants, "Retirement preparation training is prepared to shape the mentality of employees before retirement and provide an overview of activities after retirement. Many employees are not ready to face retirement because it is considered as a breaker of routine activities that have been carried out for years. In addition, retirement is considered as an annoying time, loss of routine work activities, decreased income, loss of authority that was held during active work ( post-power syndrome ), and health conditions that continue to decline with age," he said.
Venus also explained some of the benefits of post-service training for employees in the UPNVJ environment, "This activity has many benefits for all retired employees, including providing knowledge, experience and thoughts to employees in preparing themselves for retirement, employees will remain prosperous by managing their finances well, employees will know the social impacts that will be faced after retirement, employees remain empowered and independent, have the character of employees and entrepreneurs ; and are able to prepare employees' psychology to feel calmer, more peaceful, happier, and more aware of the direction of the goals that will be achieved in life after retirement," added Venus.
UPNVJ also presented trainers from the ESQ Training Center and explained in detail about several retirement phases, including:
1. Pre Retirement (responses towards retirement are divided into two, some feel it is still a long way off and some feel it is close).
2. Honeymoon (when you first retire, some people feel happy, free from work obligations and receive a pension).
3. Disenchanement (some will experience a period of boredom, feel unproductive, lose appreciation, position and co-workers).
4. Reorientation (starting to reorient life, looking for the meaning of life, and trying to be more realistic).
5. Stability (having found the meaning and orientation of life and true happiness, more positive and full of meaning). (*s)
