HumasUPNVJ - The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) of the National Development University "Veteran" Jakarta has succeeded in making the Accounting Student Research Journal (ASRJ) journal achieve Sinta 5 accreditation. The ASRJ journal was first published by FEB UPNVJ in September 2022.
"Previously it was only registered with ISSN, and now it has received SINTA 5 accreditation in 2025," said ASRJ Chairman Andy Setiawan, S.Pd., M.Ak.
ASRJ has made various preparations to achieve this accreditation, starting from improving the quality of articles, improving journal management, and fulfilling administrative requirements.
In addition, the journal management system based on the Open Journal System (OJS) was improved, including improvements to the website appearance, metadata management, and consistency in the publication schedule.
Along the way, Andy explained that ASRJ faced various challenges, especially in capturing quality articles.
"Quality articles are not easy to obtain because of competition with other more established journals. The time-consuming peer-review process is also a challenge, considering the importance of maintaining a balance between publication speed and evaluation quality," said Andy.
"On the technical side, fulfilling requirements such as DOI management and indexing in various databases requires additional efforts and expertise," he continued, when met by the UPNVJ Public Relations team on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
Andy said that this success could not be separated from the support of various parties, including FEB UPNVJ.
"FEB UPNVJ provides various facilities and technical guidance, while editors and reviewers contribute greatly to maintaining the quality of publications. The scientific community also helps by promoting the journal and providing valuable input," said Andy.
Various collaborations have also been carried out, including with the Indonesian Accountants Association (IAI) Accountant Educator Compartment and the Alliance of Indonesian Journal Management with Integrity (ALJEBI) which have provided significant encouragement in maintaining the quality and standard of journal management, especially in the field of accounting.
In preparation for journal accreditation, the managers of the ASRJ journal and the Journal of Islamic Economics and Finance Studies (JIEFES) have attended a seminar on the management and accreditation of scientific journals organized by ALJEBI in 2024.
"After achieving SINTA 5 accreditation, ASRJ Journal is targeting quality improvement towards higher accreditation, such as SINTA 4 or international indexation," Andy hopes.
He added that steps that could be taken to achieve the target include implementing stricter article selection, improving the peer review system, and increasing cooperation with academic institutions at home and abroad.
"Efforts to enter international databases such as DOAJ and Scopus are also a priority. With this strategy, ASRJ Journal is committed to continuing to develop and make greater contributions to the academic world," said Andy.
"SINTA 5 accreditation is the first step towards higher achievements," he concluded.
