UPN "Veteran" Jakarta Village Development Grant Program, Student Movement to Utilize Community Potential in Cimulang Village, Bogor

 

 

(Jakarta, 5 November 2017) The Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Ristek) held an activity "Monitoring Evaluation of the Village Development Grant Program" located in the Rectorate building of the National Development University "Veteran" Jakarta.

This event was opened with remarks from the Head of the Bureau for Academic, Student Affairs, Planning and Cooperation (AKPK) Dr. Drs, Suyatno, MM, in his remarks he hoped that this activity would be of benefit to the community where students carry out their assignments and be useful for students to be more creative and can solve community problems with real work practices. In this activity, students from various universities selected by Research and Technology were also present to present their programs. The universities chosen were the Jakarta "Veteran" National Development University, Pakuan University, PLN High School, Jakarta State Polytechnic, and Nahdlatul Ulama.

This activity was held on 5-7 November 2017 at a different location. On this occasion, UPN "Veteran" Jakarta students presented a work program that had been carried out with the title "Utilization and Distribution of Waste as Community Empowerment in Cimulang Village, Bogor Regency", in his presentation UPN "Veteran" Jakarta students made changes from the potential of existing villages by utilizing waste into valuable goods, in order to advance the economy and welfare of local residents. The UPN "Veteran" Jakarta students in their activities use plastic waste and plastic bottles for functional goods through the Ecobrick method, distribute non-organic waste in exchange through the Garbage Saving Day method, manage organic waste or household waste to be used as fertilizer. Ulfah Eka Viani, one of the participants and also a UPN "Veteran" Jakarta student, explained that they had succeeded in making a reading garden or playground from basic Ecobrick materials, also increasing the community's economy from saving waste and the community having their own agricultural products from organic fertilizer processing.

"My hope is that this activity will continue and develop not only in one or several villages but continue to cover other villages in order to take advantage of the potential that exists in the community and create an independent and prosperous society. Organizations created by universities can solve problems in today's society," said Aris Suhadi from the Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs, Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education.

This activity received full support from the entire academic community of the "Veteran" National Development University Jakarta, as well as the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education.
