Saturday, 16/02/18 at the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Auditorium, Lt IV, UPNVJ Rectorate.
The Chancellor of UPNVJ said that this activity has many benefits for students and lecturers in the future, "we hope that later law faculty students will have the opportunity to study incident cases that have been handled by the Constitutional Court up to the final solution decision, so that they understand the process of making a decision to get final solution”. he said
Meanwhile, in his remarks, Heru Setiawan said that this MOU activity was a happy moment for the MK and UPNVJ, "The MK is again able to realize strengthening institutional cooperation with MK partners, MK's Friends of the court , namely UPN "Veteran" Jakarta. For MK, cooperation with universities is no longer a requirement, but a necessity and a necessity in the course of MK's journey," he said.
There are two things in establishing this collaboration, the first is from a historical perspective, the process of the birth of MK 15 years ago was midwifery by the university community. A number of professors from various universities were brought in by the amendments to the Constitution, and then asked to provide academic views regarding the plan to establish a constitutional court, so that the Constitutional Court was present as the biological child of constitutional reform.
Second, higher education is a node of knowledge development. In terms of work methods, there are real parallels between MK and universities, namely working in the nuances, atmosphere and scientific tradition.
The most important message from the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding is that the Constitutional Court always has a strong intention to continue to collaborate, synergize, and work with universities, in this case UPN "veteran" Jakarta. This memorandum of understanding also reflects the commitment of the two institutions to support each other and strengthen each other's positions according to their respective corridors.
Heru Setiawan also said that there are two dimensions to this Memorandum of Understanding. first, the institutional interest of the Constitutional Court which the Constitutional Court continues to strive for is to help increase the understanding of citizens' constitutional rights as well as constitutional awareness. Second, through the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding, together with UPN "Veteran" Jakarta, MK takes responsibility and contributes to improving the quality of legal higher education.
