HumasUPNVJ - Legal developments have had a significant impact on changes in various aspects. One of them is the presence of the Copyright Law and other regulations regarding copyright in works, especially works through digital platforms in today's modern era such as social media. As a law student who knows that law covers all aspects, one of which regulates art or culture, therefore the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Law UPN Veterans Jakarta (BEM FH UPNVJ) wants to provide education on how to do the steps in making a good work and correct and still have high creativity in a legal perspective by bringing in direct sources who are experts in their fields with dressings or concepts that are not too formal.

Tuesday, November 24 2020, the Department of Arts & Culture has implemented a virtual talkshow work program, Art of Talking, with the theme "How is Copyright Protection for Musicians Covering Songs on Current Digital Platforms ?" and became the last work program in 2020.

The talkshow , which was hosted by Jeremia Patti Moran from the Expert Staff of the Department of Arts & Culture, also presented two great guest stars who are experienced in the field of Copyright and its Regulation in Digital Platforms . The two guest stars are Dr. drs. Imam Haryanto, SH, MH. as UPNVJ Faculty of Law Lecturer and Mr. Meidi Ferialdi as General Manager of Wahana Musik Indonesia & Ex-Director Aquarius Musikindo.

As a conclusion from the discussion in this talk show, what a musician covers a song needs to do is to have written permission/licence granted by the Copyright Holder or Related Rights Owner to another party to exercise economic rights over their creations or Related Rights products under certain conditions.

However, if the song cover is not done for commercial purposes and the Creator or related parties have no objections to the cover song, then the act of covering a song is not an act that violates Copyright. The person who covers the song must also respect the rights of the creator, both moral rights and economic rights.

The talk show SECARA also held an interactive quiz with prizes with a total prize of 300 thousand rupiah for 3 winners and was attended by 152 participants who joined the Zoom Cloud Meeting room from various groups and existing agencies.

The UPNVJ Public Relations Team conducted an online interview with Jeremia as the Chief Executive of this activity. cover songs that are good and in accordance with applicable legal procedures. said Jeremiah
