Antar Venus Speaks: “Defending the Country in Cyberspace”

HumasUPNVJ - The State Defense Webinar Series in the context of the 58th Anniversary of the UPN Veterans Jakarta is entering its second series. This second series is even more interesting, of course, with discussions that discuss how to defend the country in cyberspace in real terms, not just empty talk. This material was explained by Dr. Antar Venus MA.Comm as the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs as well as an online communication and media expert (in the network). 21/01

When there is no state ideology, then we are also fragile. In cyberspace, as we all know, there are people who insult Pancasila and lastly also abuse our national anthem. And there is still a lot of harassment, disformatization and propaganda that threatens the honor and integrity of the nation and state."

In this webinar, Anter Venus also said that citizens are also representatives in cyberspace. "The examples of these abuses show that the state is present not only in the real world but also in cyberspace. Residents are like that too. Citizens in cyberspace are also representations in the real world. Information obtained in cyberspace also affects the real world, so perceptions also affect them. Furthermore, by Anter Venus, "Citizens must be present in cyberspace to provide information that strengthens the state". Obviously

Antar Venus also explained that in the digital era that we encounter today, it is a real factor in life, "In the digital era, communication/information has become a real factor that must be taken into account in defense after previously being a hidden factor , because; Abundance of Data/Information, Open & Increased Access to Social Media, Changing Information Dissemination Landscape , Low Information Literacy, Low Control, Low Online Media, Post Truth , and Phenomenon. Social networks ( social networks ) create democratization of information. Everyone has power/control over information, but this is also terrible because it has the potential to become a threat, if we don't act in the interests of the country, democracy, harmony and national integrity. There will be people who will use that potential to their advantage. this condition is exploited by certain groups to promote rival ideologies, identity politics, intolerance, disinformation, harassment of the state, hate speech, etc. he continued

"There are 8 aspects that must be understood regarding winning information in the virtual public space, including: Build Pride of the Nation/Country, Create a Shared Indonesian Vision, Participatory Approach, Challenge the opinion, Full Engagement of Educational Institutions/Islamic Boarding Schools, Information Control Centers, Build Communication Networks / infiltration, Do amplification of Risk Factors. The point is to reclaim public space, build an information environment that supports national interests.” Close Venus

All participants looked enthusiastic from the several questions asked in the discussion session.
