First FISIP UPNVJ Holds Thesis Session and Offline Proposal Seminar

HumasUPNVJ – UPNVJ's Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) first held an offline thesis meeting and proposal seminar in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. This activity has been carried out since Monday, December 13, 2021 while adhering to strict health protocols.

Found at the UPNVJ FISIP building, Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, Dr. Kusumajanti, M.Sc. said that the implementation of the thesis session and proposal seminar was based on the dean's circular letter Number: SE/016/UN61/FISIP/2021 concerning Implementation of Proposal/Thesis Guidance in the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences.

This circular is a follow-up to UPN Veteran Jakarta Chancellor's Circular Letter Number: 111/UN61/TU/2021 dated 24 September 2021 concerning Guidelines for Organizing Face-to-face Learning for the 2021/2022 Academic year.

Dr. Kusumajanti also explained that the implementation of the thesis session and proposal seminar was divided into 4 sessions, each session filled by one participant and three examiners. With a fixed and unchanged testing system like before the pandemic, trial participants were tested directly by lecturers in each session.

"FISIP has provided 6 special rooms which are used as places to carry out trial activities. There is a room in Building B FISIP Lt. 4 and one room is in Building A FISIP Quality Assurance Room. If there are students who want to witness trial activities, then the room used will be moved to the classroom, so that it can accommodate students who want to witness trial activities," he explained.

Dr. Kusumajanti also hopes that the offline thesis session and proposal seminar will make it easy for students to communicate and discuss face-to-face regarding guidance and other thesis needs.

"Our hope for the implementation of this exam is to make it easy to interact directly. And if there are errors or corrections, they can be conveyed directly to students, unlike online trials, there will definitely be many obstacles." he said.

At the end of the discussion Dr. Kusumajanti also said that apart from the offline thesis sessions and proposal seminars, the lecturers also found it easier to express criticism and opinions directly related to the thesis presented by the students.
