Pancasila as an Alternative World Ideology Has Been Introduced Since Bung Karno

HumasUPNVJ - Deputy for Law, Advocacy and Regulatory Oversight of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) Kemas Akhmad Tajudin SH MH said the offer of Pancasila as an alternative world ideology, apart from liberalism-capitalism and socialism-communism, had been carried out by President Sukarno since 1960 at the General Assembly United Nations.

"On September 30, 1960, at the UN General Assembly, Bung Karno once conveyed Pancasila as the world's alternative ideology. World leaders also saw and recognized Pancasila as a good ideology," said Kemas in the seminar "Pancasila as a World Alternative Ideology: An Examination of the Implementation of Indonesian Democracy." -Germany" which was held by the German Center at the Jakarta Veterans National Development University (UPNVJ) in a hybrid manner at the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Auditorium, UPNVJ Pondok Labu Campus, South Jakarta, Monday (31/1/2022).

Kemas said that Pancasila is a synthesis of world ideologies which can be called a meeting point ideology which is different from the concept of the Third Way initiated by Anthony Giddens which only takes the positive side of each ideology.

According to Kemas, Pancasila is the crystallization of an ideology that does not only cover the world's great ideologies, but also recognizes transcendent values.

"So the Indonesian people must be proud of and love Pancasila so that disintegration does not occur. Indonesia's pluralism has the potential for conflict, so Pancasila as an ideology must continue to be applied in the life of the nation and state," he said.

Kemas said that after the 1998 Reformation rolled around, Pancasila began to be abandoned along with the repeal of the MPR Decree Number II/MPR/1978 concerning Ekaprasetia Pancakarsa (P4) and the dissolution of BP7 in 1998 and the elimination of Pancasila compulsory subjects in the education curriculum in Law Number 20 of 2003 concerning National Education System.

In fact, a number of world figures, such as a political scientist at the University of Dortmund Germany Prof. Thomas Meyer, the Egyptian Ambassador to Indonesia Ashraf Sulthan, the leader of the Catholic Church Pope John Paul II, to the former President of the United States Barrack Obama recognize and admire Pancasila as the ideology of the Indonesian nation.

Meanwhile, the Director of the German Center UPNVJ Dr. Bambang Susanto MA said that expecting Pancasila as an alternative to world ideology does have a chance even though it is quite difficult.

"Although Indonesia is still quite young, Indonesia can make a leap of democracy when compared to other countries. With the record, the Indonesian people are consistent in implementing Pancasila," he said.

UPNVJ Chancellor Dr. Erna Hernawati Ak, CPMA, CA, CGOP said the topics discussed at the seminar were very interesting, especially when comparing Pancasila as an ideology with other ideologies in the world.
