HumasUPNVJ - Director General of Higher Education, Research and Technology Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology Prof. Ir. Nizam, M.Sc., DIC., Ph.D requested that prospective students who have been declared accepted through the National Selection for State University Entrance (SNMPTN) not waste the opportunity to study at state universities.

"The competition is quite tight. The average is one to five, meaning that each child sets aside five other children. Don't waste the sacrifices of the other five children," said Prof. Nisam in a press conference announcing the 2022 SNMPTN which was broadcast live via the LTMPT Official YouTube account, Tuesday (29/3/2022).

Prof. Nizam said that SNMPTN looked at student learning achievements, achievements, and academic and non-academic achievements when they were students in high schools. Prospective students selected in the selection are those who are considered to have the potential to attend higher education.

Because of that, he congratulated prospective students who were accepted through the SNMPTN route and asked those who had not been accepted not to be discouraged because there were still opportunities to study at tertiary institutions.

"There is still a Joint Selection to Enter State Universities (SBMPTN), an independent pathway, and there are also private universities that are of high quality and are not inferior to state universities. The important thing is to study diligently, take care of your health, and pray," he advised.

Chairman of the State University Entrance Test Institute (LTMPT) Prof. Mochamad Ashari said the SNMPTN results were announced through the official website on Tuesday (29/3/2022) at 15.00 WIB.

"There are three pathways to be accepted at state universities, one of which is SNMPTN whose portion is 20 percent of the total accepted at these universities," he explained.

Prof. Ashari said that SNMPTN applicants reached 612,049 prospective students, while only 120,643 were accepted at 125 state universities. SNMPTN participants are proposed by schools based on the achievements of prospective students while attending school.

Meanwhile, Chairperson of the Chancellor's Council of Indonesian State Universities (MRPTNI) Prof. Jamal Wiwoho said that not all superior students in schools who were submitted to take SNMPTN could be accepted.

"Only about 20 percent are accepted, the other 80 percent have not been accepted. Those who have not been accepted can take part in the next selection through the SBMPTN," he said.
