A number of meetings held jointly by the Indonesian Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Manpower, which involved the deans of the Faculty of Medicine, sought a solution to produce more specialist doctors. One of the recommendations that emerged was the need for a significant addition of specialist doctor programs, especially within the framework of the Academic Health System (AHS).
