HumasUPNVJ – Jakarta Veterans National Development University (UPNVJ) signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation agreement in banking and education with the State Savings Bank (BTN).

"We have high hopes for this cooperation. BTN's potential and experience in banking are very useful and needed by UPN Veterans Jakarta," said UPNVJ Rector Prof. Dr. Erna Hernawati Ak CPMA CA CGOP at UPNVJ Limo Campus, Depok, Wednesday (20/7/2022).

The Rector said BTN is not a new bank and is better known than other banks, especially in terms of housing finance services. BTN has a great contribution to the nation, especially helping to finance housing for civil servants.

According to the Rector, as a banking institution, BTN is a place for competent practitioners. He hopes that practitioners who are competent in their fields can contribute by sharing their experiences and competencies with UPNVJ students.

“Of course not only practitioners in the banking sector, but also from HRD, health, and others. So practitioners from BTN will not only teach at the Faculty of Economics and Business,” she said.

President Director of BTN Haru Koesmahargyo said BTN is a state-owned bank specifically assigned to provide housing finance services and is the only bank that distributes housing finance subsidies.

“Currently, the housing backlog in Indonesia reaches 12.75 million. As many as 12.75 million Indonesians do not own a house and it will continue to grow because every year 400 new couples get married. Meanwhile, the ability of banks to provide housing finance services is only 250 thousand to 300 thousand houses," he explained.

Haru said BTN and UPNVJ have the same concern for the younger generation. While UPNVJ focuses on the quality of education for the younger generation, BTN focuses on making the millennial generation able to have a decent house.

“Home is the center of education from an early age. A decent house, with access to water, electricity, sanitation, transportation and adequate facilities will support the education process," he said.

According to Haru, BTN is also ready to support the Tridharma of Higher Education by being involved as practitioners who teach at UPNVJ. UPNVJ as a State Defense Campus has similarities with BTN which aims to provide economic and social benefits to the community.
