HumasUPNVJ - Head of the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) Commissioner General of Police Boy Rafli Amar invited new students at the Jakarta Veterans National Development University (UPNVJ) to participate in preventing the spread of the ideology of terrorism which spreads hatred and violence.
"Indonesia has value systems that were passed down from the nation's ancestors, which must be able to prevent hatred and violence. The nation's children who are involved in terrorism are those who are influenced by narratives of hatred," said the Head of BNPT to UPNVJ new students who attended the Introduction to Campus Life New Students (PKKMB) 2022 at the Bung Karno Indoor Tennis Stadium, Jakarta, Wednesday (10/8/2022).
The head of the BNPT said that Indonesia continues to grow as a strong nation, but must be wary of those who wish to weaken it with an ideology of terrorism that spreads hatred and violence, is against the state constitution, and is against the ideology of Pancasila.
Because of this, the Head of the BNPT invited UPNVJ new students to fight the ideology of terrorism by not following parties who incite hate for the state ideology which has become the values and roots of the Indonesian nation.
"Terrorism is deliberately instilled by those who want chaos all over the world. UPN Veteran Jakarta as a Bela Negara campus is very extraordinary. Defending the Country is not only a right, but also an obligation, which is regulated in the constitution," he said.
The head of the BNPT said that new students should be proud to be part of UPNVJ which is a State Defense campus. According to him, UPNVJ and BNPT have the same line of struggle in defending the country.
"We are of one heart, one soul. We must be successful in educational institutions. Don't waste the hopes of your parents and the hopes of the Indonesian nation," he said.
PKKMB 2022 is the first offline activity since the Covid-19 pandemic. For the previous two years, PKKMB was carried out online to prevent transmission of Covid-19.
The university level PKKMB which was held for two days was opened by the Deputy Chancellor for Student Affairs and Cooperation Dr. dr. Ria Maria Theresa SpKJ MH
"The younger siblings who enter here are definitely the chosen students, extraordinary students. However, being smart is not enough. Younger siblings must be successful people," said Ria.
In the opening ceremony, Ria introduced university officials, student organizations, available scholarship programs, student creativity programs, introduction of Merdeka Learning Kampus Merdeka (MBKM), and student achievements.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chancellor for Academic Affairs Dr Anter Venus MA Comm said student life at a university is different from student life at high school because it has different values and traditions.
"University is a community of people who want to think scientifically. A collection of educated and intellectual people. This campus invites you to build scientific ways of thinking," he said.
Venus said that universities provide space to think freely and explore knowledge freely with an open mind. According to him, the world will progress if educated people are willing to think with an open mind.
